What is a Nigerian International Passport?

When you apply for a new Nigerian international passport, the Nigerian immigration service (NIS) would only you an electronic passports (e-passports) The standard Nigerian passport which carries a green cover would be issue out to ordinary citizens, while official e-passports with a blue cover are reserved for government officials and Nigerian diplomats.

Nigerian International Passport Online Application

  1. Log on to https://portal.immigration.gov.ng which is  the Nigeria Immigration website and click the e-Passport application form and select your passport type.
  2. Select passport type and Select processing country
  1. Complete application form
  2. Upload scanned copies of required documents
  3. Select preferred payment method (payment can be made with Visa cards)
  4. Once payment is completed, click “Submit”
  5. You will be issued an Application ID and Reference number
  6. Print out Guarantor’s form and have it certified
  7. Submit completed application form with additional required documents in person at your selected passport office

How To Apply For Nigerian International Passport Offline

If you currenly outside the shores of nigeria and you want to apply for the nigerian international passport, you might want to reach out to a travelling agent as this process may be time consuming, but if you are in nigeria simply follow this step to apply for internation passport

Locate an immigration office near you  to begin the international passport application process

You will be required  to submit a copy of the following documents to the immigration officer:

  1. Your local government or state of origin Identification Letter.
  2. Age declaration or Birth certificate
  3. Marriage certificate or marriage declaration (for female applicants only) in some cases, you might need to provide newpaper publication of change of name.
  4. Make photocopies of the valid international passport or your friend or relative together with his/ her national Identification card or driver’s license (this person will stand as your guarantor)
  5. 2 passport photographs or 4-6 because of age and marriage declaration

Note:Getting your international passport could be problematc and requires longer time than others. For example, it is much faster to international passport in lagos state than it would be if you are applying from benin in Edo State. This is due to the fact that the passports are not produced in Edo State

What are the Requirements?

When appearing at the immigration office, the requirements for the international passport are as follows:

Adults (18 years and over):

  1. Completed passport application form
  2. Two recent passport-size photographs
  3. Proof of payment
  4. Letter of ID from local government/ state of origin (valid staff ID card attached)
  5. Birth certificate
  6. Completed Guarantor’s form (with photocopy of data page of Guarantor’s Nigerian e-passport and one passport-size photograph of the Guarantor)
  7. Marriage certificate (if applicable)
  8. Name change affidavit (if applicable)

Minors (below 18 years of age):

  1. Completed passport application form
  2. One passport-size photograph (signed on reverse side by consenting parent/s)
  3. Birth certificate
  4. Evidence of Nigerian citizenship of parent/s
  5. Letter of consent from both parents (valid court order if one parent is unavailable)
  6. Proof of payment

Nigerian International Passport Fee

The nigerian international passport application fee varies directly as the number of pages in it. At the time of writing this report the cost of getting a 32 page international passport is around 30,00 naira.
